Appuntamento giornaliero con i ragazzi dell’Erasmus che, questa volta in un lungo comunicato, ci raccontano la giornata di venerdì. Dopo la mattinata trascorsa nel centro di Este, i ragazzi hanno partecipato ad un workshop sul romanticismo inglese gestito dal professor Gregory Dowling, docente presso l’università veneziana di Ca’ Foscari. Nel primo pomeriggio i ragazzi si sono recati a visitare la cosiddetta Villa “Byron” (in quanto proprietà del poeta stesso nel suo soggiorno veneto), situata nel territorio estense. L’evento clou della giornata è stato però la rappresentazione teatrale di “Sogno di una notte di mezza estate” realizzata in serata dagli stessi studenti coordinati dal regista Laurent Cappe, interamente in lingua inglese. VERSIONE ITALIANA: “Il giorno venerdì 26 febbraio è stata una giornata grandiosa per il nostro gruppo: sono state infatti organizzate per noi una conferenza e una visita ad Este, oltre allo spettacolo teatrale che si sarebbe tenuto quella sera stessa. Durante il mattino abbiamo analizzato alcune poesie famose composte da Lord Byron e da Percy Bysshe Shelly, in preparazione alla lezione che si sarebbe tenuta di lì a poco da parte di un professore molto conosciuto dell’università Ca’ Foscari a Venezia, Gregory Dowling. La conferenza è durata circa un’ora e mezza ed è stata molto coinvolgente, lì attenzione di tutti gli studenti era concentrata sul professore e tutti hanno preso nota di quanto veniva spiegato, per approfondire così quanto è stato già spiegato in precedenza a scuola. Il professore ha parlato attraverso un inglese fluente, con un ottimo accento e così tutti i ragazzi hanno potuto comprendere perfettamente ciò che veniva spiegato. Egli ha poi effettuato scelte interessanti su quanto esporre, parlando della vita di Lord Byron e di Percy Bysshe Shelly, di quanto questi ultimi hanno realizzato e del fatto che sono giunti anche in Veneto, in particolare a Venezia e a Este, vicino a dove noi ragazzi italiani abitiamo. Egli ha descritto quindi anche alcune delle loro più famose poesie, della loro vicendevole influenza e anche del loro difficile rapporto. Il professore è stato molto professionale ed è stato anche cortese ad averci concesso del tempo, alla fine, per poter esprimere dubbi in merito a ciò che non avevamo compreso. Verso mezzogiorno ci siamo recati ad Este per mezzo dell’autobus, per visitare Villa Cappuccini, proprietà di Lord Byron e data in affitto all’amico Shelly. E’ una costruzione molto grande, situata in cima ad una collina, vicino al centro della città di Este, la quale ha poi un bel giardino con tanti fiori, nel quale abbiamo potuto scattare diverse foto. E’ stato per noi un privilegio poter visitare Villa Cappuccini, poiché essa è solitamente inaccessibile al pubblico; inoltre il sindaco di Este ci ha incontrato e ci ha parlato a proposito di questo incredibile progetto e del fatto che dobbiamo sentirci cittadini europei. Dopo la visita ci siamo spostati in città per pranzare e rilassarci. Al pomeriggio poi siamo andati a casa per poterci preparare allo spettacolo teatrale della sera e per la festa finale. Ci siamo dunque ritrovati presso l’auditorium dell’istituto superiore J.F.Kennedy e successivamente abbiamo organizzato la cena, mentre il gruppo di teatro provava lo spettacolo. Alle ore venti le famiglie sono arrivate a abbiamo così potuto assistere tutti assieme al magnifico spettacolo dei nostri amici, il quale ha avuto molto successo poiché, nonostante la barriera rappresentata dalla lingua inglese, era comunque possibile comprendere quanto veniva rappresentato grazie alla gestualità degli attori e al loro tono di voce. Sebbene il gruppo non avesse avuto molte occasioni per poter provare la commedia, è stato in grado di mettere in scena uno spettacolo sensazionale, grazie anche al loro talentuoso regista, Laurent Cappe. Lo spettacolo è stato grandioso e molto divertente. Successivamente abbiamo cenato assieme, con quanto preparato dai nostri genitori: era tutto squisito! Dopo c’è stato anche il momento delle premiazioni per il nostro lavoro. E’ stata una giornata memorabile è resterà uno dei nostri migliori ricordi di sempre.”
VERSIONE INGLESE:“On Friday the 26th February it was a big day for us because a conference, a visit to Este and a play were organized for us. In the morning we analyzed famous poems by Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelly in preparation of the speech by a well known professor, Gregory Dowling from Ca’ Foscari university in Venice. The conference took about 1 hour and 30 minutes and it was very fascinating, all the students were fixated on the professor and they all took notes to help them with their future studies. The professor spoke with a fluent accent so everybody could understand perfectly. He made clever choices of what to say. He spoke about the life of Lord Byron and also Shelly and all of their accomplishments. It was very interesting because he told us that these poets came to live near us in Venice and in Este. He also described some of their famous work and the influence on one another but also their compelling complicated relation. He was very professional but he was kind enough to give us time to ask questions about things we didn’t understand.At midday, we took the bus to Este to visit Villa Cappuccini, Lord Byron’s estate that he rented out to his friend Shelly. It’s a huge building on top of a hill near the center of Este that has a beautiful garden with lots of exotic flowers where we managed to take lots of pictures for the group. It was a privilege for us because usually it is closed to the public and also the mayor came to visit us and talk to us about the project and the future of Europe which is dependent on us. After the visit we went into town to have lunch and relax. Then we went home in the afternoon to prepare for the evening’s play and party.We met J.F. Kennedy high school later on that day and we set up our dinner while the theatre group rehearsed. At 8 the families came and we watched the magnificent play of our friends which was well done because despite of the language barrier, everybody liked the play thanks to the movements and jesters made by the actors which were funny. In just a short period of time the theatre group managed to create an original performance thanks their talented director. The play was a great success and everyone had a lot of fun. Then we ate food provided by the parent which was superb. At the end, we were handed out rewards for our great work and we celebrated all together. This day has been a memorable one and it will always be one of our best memories.”
